Our senegalese partners

Mer et Monde Senegal maintain a dialogue and a close cooperation with several senegalese organizations that work in the social field with which it developed a long term partnership.
It undertakes in addition to the projects implying several organizations according to their expertises, Mer et Monde Senegal generates platforms of exchange between its partners of the civil society and the gouvernements.
Thus it has partnership with the following organizations:

ACAPES Cultural association for Social Self-promotion and education

Founded in 1972, the ACAPES worked at the beginning on the level of the education of the people marginalized and disadvantaged in order to allow them one day to turn over in the traditional education system. Today, the ACAPES widened its borders and works on the level of the citizenship, of health and of the environnement.
ACAPES offers education and training at various levels. Initially, Association acts near the early childhood (0-6ans), of the young people, the teenagers and the women. But, their work does not stop in the walls of the establishment. On the contrary, the ACAPES also works in the districts in order to reinforce the democracy.
The head office is in the Parcelles Assainies in the Dakar-native suburbs.And following its vast project of expansion of the last years, association is present in all the senegalese territory.
Acapes is one of the first partners of Mer and Monde Senegal. It receives trainees since 1999. The partnership intervened on the level of the reinforcement of the capacities and the teaching support

"Jamono Cheikh Wade" women association

The women association of "Jamono Sheik Wade" of Guédiawaye always played a part of interface with the various structures of development of the locality where it is. Moreover, the association offers a framework of integration to realities of the Dakar suburbs. It is characterized especially by the dynamism of the women. Indeed, one can observe a considerable energy by their presence on the ground of relay in nutrition. These relays make activities of sensitizing with visits in residence to take care of the hygiene and the health of the child. The association of the women also set up a community nursery of child.
Mer and Monde is working since 2000 with the association of female promotion Jamono Sheik Wade of Guédiawaye. Indeed, the co-operation supported the women of Guediawaye to set up the Community nursery and continues its engagement with the participation of volunteers in the area. Thus, the presence of trainees of Mer and Monde Senegal support a division of the knowledge in the school establishments and the structures with social aspect of the area. But, the exchange does not stop there. Indeed, a member of the association of the women of Guédiawaye carried out a training course in Quebec with the Réciprocité program of Quebec Sans Frontières to the autumn 2006

Yendane-Terrokh women assocation

In July 1989 the association of women of Yendane is born. However it is only in August 1992 that the association of women Teranga Lehar becomes official. Their goal was then to support the financial autonomisation and a food safety for their members, by various activities, of which market-gardening.
En 1989, drilling and the mills are very requires some of Senegal. Today, the villagers work in the market-gardening field. Women of Yendane meetings some difficulties in the inventory control, the conservation and the flow, which make difficult obtaining an income guaranteeing the maintenance of a profitable activity to high use of agricultural inputs. But, these women fight day after day to reach desired autonomy.
Teranga Lehar works in partnership with Mer and Monde Senegal since December 2003. Since the beginning of this collaboration the association of women Teranga Lehar accomodated nearly a hundred volunteers and had to organize various activities in a participative step with the volunteers, like days of implication on the level of the market-gardening perimeter, sociocultural activities and more. In 2005, the trainees also built a shelter on the known as perimeter. Approximately 90% of the trainees worked in the market-gardening field in this communal field. There were also projects in school mutual aid, conservation and health.
Mer and Monde also gave school material. Mer and Monde continued its action with the association, in particular by sending a group of trainees QSF to the summer 2006 for the construction of a warehouse, for making formations on the conservation and setting up agricultural techniques. A trainee of the ACDI also intervenes with the mobilization of the association since August 2006 .

ANHMS Nationale Association of Handicapped of Senegal

ANHMS is an association with nonlucrative goal recognized since 1982. It is a member of the senegalese Federation of Associations of Handicapped People (FSAPH) and African western Organization of the Handicapped People. Moreover, it sits at the world Organization of the Handicapped People .
L' ANHMS gathers handicapped people, the parents and the friends of those. Today, Association counts close to 200000 members through Senegal, where it is present on all the territory. This association is made up of a national office, 10 regional offices, 31 departmental offices and committees of districts. Association counts also a female section and a student section.
L' ANHMS works for the improvement of its member and living conditions of the people handicapped in general .The association also tries to play an important part to change the behaviors and mentalities of the families and population. The professional training, education, the installation of activities that give incomes are, the sectors privileged by Association. The defense of the rights of the handicapped people is also an intense activity of the Association.
The partnership between the ANHMS and Mer and Monde Senegal exist since 2003. Trainees in physiotherapy and ergothérapie imply themselves within the association since then. Moreover, training courses in social matter are carried out, for example on the levels of the rights of the handicapped people and the AGR of the female section .

"Keur Khadim" school

In the district Bay of Hann, there were few schools in the years 1990. This lack of school establishments made 3 friends tried to solve the question. This reflexion carried out, in 1995, the creation of the school Keur Khadim. The purpose of this school was thus to deal with the education of the children of Bay of Hann. It is with 50 pupils that the school started. Today, manpower passed to 183 pupils, 6 classes .
The rules of the school are in conformity with the State laws. Therefore, the teachers received the formation of the State. Moreover, if a Master misses, the school has a bank of substitutes. Thus, the children of the district and the peripheral districts receive a daily teaching with the height of the national requirements.
But the challenges the school Keur Khadim must take up, it is necessary to note the narrowness of the buildings. Consequently, the classes all are well filled and the inscriptions were thus stopped. Because of these problems, trainees from Mer and Monde, and a group of retired from Québéc and a committee of parents sought and seek always solutions.

Childhood and Peace

Childhood and Peace are a nongovernmental organization intervening with the vulnerable groups which are the young people and the women. Their interventions are mainly at the level of education and training. These various interventions, by a policy of insertion, become also an instrument of catch in social contribution and accompaniment of the childs problems . By the diversity of its actions in the areas of Dakar and Casamance, Childhood and Peace take into account sociocultural realities in an approach of health and Community development. Childhood and Peace is education with peace and the citizenship. It has a school in Dakar-native suburbs (common of district of the Parcelles Assainies) and others in the area of Casamance (Kolda, Ziguinchor).
To meet the needs for the populations and by a concern for effectiveness in the intervention, Mer et Monde Senegal tied a partnership with the organization nongovernmental Enfance and Peace since 2004. This partnership is concretized by the contribution of the students in sciences of the education of the University of Montreal in the assumption of responsibility of the questions related to education.
